Molly has been making a little bit of progress each day, she is able to tolerate being held now which we are all really enjoying. She has started to ask for her bottle a little bit again and at times she requests to go for a walk but after sitting up for a few minutes she quickly realizes her body is just not ready for that yet. Right now it seems as though it may be quite awhile before molly is able to roam the halls but as long as we are taking steps towards that we are moving in the right direction. Just today Molly’s blood work looks like it might be showing some signs of recovery and her chimerism came back at 84% donor 2, then a mix of donor 1 and Molly. Molly is scheduled to have a bone marrow aspiration tomorrow to get a clearer picture of what is going on and to be sure that there is still no signs of disease. We are always so very nervous when she has to go under anesthesia and we hope that you will join us in prayer for continued good results. The doctors think that Molly likely has had a virus that they could not detect and while we have been supporting her through it with steroids, drugs, oxygen and transfusions the virus has likely slowed or halted the engraftment process. To help the engraftment along the plan now is to give more of Rebekah’s stem cells on Friday. We are hopeful that these next few days will bring continued healing from the virus and the recovery of her counts. The doctors are slowly weening Molly’s steroids and hopefully we will be able to control whatever is going on without them. We are thinking that a little visit from the kids might perk her up a bit so hopefully in the next few days, if she is up for it she can have a little one on one time with her kids even if its just to watch a little caliou together. The kids are enjoying an early start to summer vacation and are eager to have Molly and Mom back home to enjoy the fun together.
