The initial ween of Molly’s seizure drug that should have started Monday night was delayed until yesterday afternoon. It took some time to figure out how to ween her while still keeping her well sedated, so a new drug was introduced to help with sedation and by this morning Molly had weened down to a maintenance level of the second seizure medication. So she is down to two seizure meds now that she will keep and a third one on maintenance for the next 24 hours while they continue to monitor her on the EEG. It is crucial that Molly remain seizure free over the next 24 hours. Today Molly will also have another lumbar puncture to follow up from the one a few days ago although all the cultures in her CNS were negative. They want to see where it is today and since she is under such heavy sedation, they are also going to do a bone marrow biopsy now that she has engrafted (to see how things there look as well). We are also waiting on the results of this weeks chimerism which we may have by the end of the day. Molly’s room is a busy place today and she has lots of wonderful doctors and nurses looking out for her care. She is being followed by, it feels like nearly every specialty in the hospital. We are praying that these next 24 hours goes smoothly and that she will be able to get off the EEG, the ventilator and back into our arms soon. We are so grateful for the prayers and messages of support from everyone. It is comforting to know Molly is surrounded by so much love and prayers from all over.
